Black Carbon – what a waste

Nature and sustainable development

This video explains the impact of black carbon to the Arctic and how to prevent it. One minute and 19 seconds in length.

Today, black carbon causes one fourth of Arctic warming. Using the best available technologies could significantly reduce the warming effect of black carbon in the Arctic.

We can do two things to reduce emissions. One: Limit flaring of surplus gas in the oil industry. Two: Overhaul old energy production facilities. This would slow down climate change globally, produce health benefits and also make economic sense.

Finland has solutions. Our companies have the technology and know-how to limit flaring and update outdated facilities This seems like a deal too good to pass up, doesn’t it? Because if we lose the Arctic, we lose the world.

Together we can achieve an Arctic without Black Carbon. This is Finland’s call for action as Arctic Council chair.
